Leaders Walk Out on Speaker!

I've got my one eye on Hillary Clinton's 1st testimony before Congress and the other on this opinion.  I could perhaps more accurately express it if I knew the whole story; my opinion, that is.

The complete anecdote, unfortunately, alludes me at the moment (Perhaps someone can help me out with the details.).  Evidently, a  few days ago, there was a meeting, or summit, of world leaders (I'd love to know where.) during which a vast number of them walked out on a speaker, in solidarity, who was hurling insults toward Israel.  I'm torn!  I thought it was dumb to walk out.  How is that going to accomplish anything positive?  These meetings are rare.  (Let the insulters walk out!  I wouldn't let someone push me out!  I would look at them in mockery and laugh at them!  Discount them!)

I first thought it analogous to a wife storming out of the room during an argument with her husband.  Ask any mental health professional what is appropriate in such an encounter and I presume the answer would be to leave, cool down, return, respect and fight fairly!  But, we are talking about an infrequent gathering of world leaders.  It's not so easy to walk out and come back again.

Or, this is perhaps analogous to the beautiful Latino wife on "Seinfeld" married to the burly, ugly, possessive, jealous, threatening dud who lived in the same building as Jerry Seinfeld.  In her attempt to seduce him, she asked Jerry to walk her to her car, but, although Jerry was reciprocating the amorous flirtation, he was extremely apprehensive, worried someone would see them together.  She reprimanded Jerry, exclaiming that she didn't care what people thought, "You are not a man!"

To which Jerry inquired, "Well, what are all those suits doing in my closet!?"

The Latino continued, "What are you going to do if my husband sees us!?  Run away like a leetle (Latino broken English - no offense intended) mouse!?"  Her fingers mimiced running.

Perhaps the motto by which the most notorious Italian mob lived may aptly apply to Israel:  "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!"

Easy for me to say!  (All of the above.)

I heard that President Obama might have been at the infamous meeting of leaders and did not walk out with those who did.  If our pointman was there - and I'm very curious as to whether he was or not - his not walking out makes perfect sense to me!  (He's like a preacher!  Like the late, and great, Martin Luther King.  Reverend King didn't walk out, or run away; he stood steadfastly and fought, and, sadly, got killed!)

Oh, well, just a thought!  This opinion might be a little scattered, I'm hurriedly headed off to a 5-day conference!  Be well, everyone!

(Come on!  Oh! Wonderful Universe, Oh! Universe Full of Wonder, hit me with some comments!)
