They're Doin' It Already! They're Doing It Again!
They're starting already...
And the trial of Drew Peterson, the abuser (black eyes... of the victim have been witnessed/corroborated by many) and alleged murderer, of Ms. Kathleen Savio, hasn't even been scheduled, yet.
The date was May 19, 2009 on the Dr. Phil Show. Joel Brodsky and Reem Odeh (attorneys for Drew Peterson), and others, were already blaming the victim for her own murder because, after all, "Why didn't she leave the relationship if Drew Peterson was abusive!?" The abuser's accusatory mantra has always been, and always will be, "Now look what you made me do!? See what you made me do!?" although, any astute, learned, individual knows that she (the victim) is NEVER the reason (for the abuse). This bears repeating: SHE IS ALWAYS THE EXCUSE BUT NEVER THE REASON!
(I cannot be certain if Dr. Phil asked the insulting, disrespectful, question, along with the two attorneys; if Dr. Phil did, I would assume that he did so rhetorically or figuratively, since he is a psychologist and, hence, must know the answer to that question. It seems that he did repeat that absurd question, but I can't be certain.)
As I mature, I am completely surprised at how my "intuition"
is invariably correct. As you can see in my May, 14, 2009,
entry, entitled, "An Experiment: Why Abused Women Don't
Leave?" my "intuition" was right on target - uncanningly
apropos and timely. When I wrote the entry, I did not
intend to relate it to Drew Peterson. (I even feel tainted
typing his name - as if he is a real human being!) I don't
think he was even in my conscous mind at the time I entered
the post.
Life had placed an adroit "teacher" in my path awhile back
that called my attention to this "ability," or phenomenon,
that we all possess as animals (We are, in fact,
animals.); although, at the time, as she spoke of this
"psychic ability," I basically pooh-poohed her "insights."
But as I grow in life, I'm paying more attention and I
realize how insightful, how judicious, this teacher was,
indeed. You can call it "psychic ability" (This connotes
a negative stereotype for most of us; although, I would
say don't be so eager to dismiss it. The police, for
instance, use "psychics" all of the time to help solve
crimes, they just don't broadcast it.). I call it
"intuition," but you can call it "gut instinct." We all
have "it" but we don't pay attention to it because we're
too naively busy building our lives.
(For example, a human being, a female, will enter an
elevator even when her "gut instinct" is telling her that
something is unseemly about a man in the elevator. To
the contrary, animals would NEVER do that when they sense
danger, but we do it all of the time.)
I conjecture that we all know that abuse comes in too many forms to list here, including the ultimate domestic violence - murder. It's fantabulous that we are discussing it in the open in 2009, but we don't do enough of it. Women still suffer in silence. Years ago, even when there were abuse shelters for abused women, for instance, abused women didn't even know that they existed. This may still be the case! I hope that after yet another murder, we will discuss the crime of domestic violence, or violence against women, more often than just after a woman is killed or when it is a celebrity that is battered.
If you haven't yet, please check out the above-mentioned entry which illustrates what happens to humans, male and female, who are physically and emotionally abused - it helps answer the age-old question, "Why don't abused women leave abusive relationships?" besides the obvious reason - fearing for their lives.
