QUICK OBSERVATION #2
PSYCHOLOGISTS ARE SUPPOSED TO SHUT-UP!
Last week...
Dr. Phil, a psychologist who has not renewed his professional license, aired a show on teen pregnancy during which he disgracefully, predatorily, arrogantly, did his darnedest to convince a precocious, and strong, pregnant teen to put her child on the adoption block. We couldn't believe it!
When purporting to help a client, psychologists are NOT supposed to put their 2 cents into the mix. According to their code of ethics, mental health professionals are not supposed to inject their own values and opinions into a client's decision about anything! The professional is supposed to intently listen as the client works through his, or her, issues and THE CLIENT comes to his, or her, own conclusions and decisions. The professional is there only to support and, perhaps, guide! If anything, the ethical professional must present all options available for a client to solve his, or her, own problems.
But, Dr. Phil did not do that...
The only place Dr. Phil steered the vulnerable pregnant teen and her mom was to adoption titans who.... What do YOU think adoption titans { agencies } are going to do!? Adoption titans promote family separation - that's what they're going to do. They will do their darnedest to finagle the valuable child-commodity from this vulnerable family! Or, they're outta' business, baby! Survival of the fittest! { i.e., if you go to a surgeon, you're pretty likely to come out with a surgery. Do ya' think? }
Dr. Phil never once showed the other side of the coin - he never once mentioned any place this teen could get help and support in raising her child. There's help out there! A few places for single parents to start to get help and support and guidance could be, for example:
Does Dr. Phil think the public is stupid!?
We just complimented Dr. Phil a couple times some days ago, but after THAT show, we have lost respect for Dr. Phil. We think that some celebrities get so big in their own minds that they lose touch with reality and the "average" person.
{ During that show, Dr. Phil was arrogant and disrespectful; he talked to the mother about the pregnant teen like the teen wasn't even there sitting next to her! He discounted and disrespected the teen completely! He treated her like a child; albeit, children even get more respect from adults today in any other venue. }
And vice-versa - because these celebrities give away prizes and free therapy, society starts to worship such celebrities like Dr. Phil. We excuse unethical behavior, "Oh, so what if he ruined the lives of a few pregnant teens and their families? Look at the good he does. So, he ruins a family here and there... what's the big deal?" That's like saying, "Oh, my husband only beats me up every now and then. So what? He's so nice the rest of the time. I can take it."
The teen's mom looked like she worshiped the ground Dr. Phil walks on! She was in utter awe! We can guarantee as the years progress and she is without her grandchild, she'll realize what, indeed, she has lost!
And, by the way...
The aforementioned teen's mom is a weakling! And, we'd bet that she may have thought by dumping her private family business on the Dr. Phil Show... well, just perhaps... she might get a reality show?
How old were your parents when you were born?

It's not so hard.
All you have to do is read a little.
And the rest will take care of itself.
* Let's ask Dr. Phil if he would have given his child for adoption by strangers had he been a single teenaged dad? We think he'd say, "H E L L N O ! ! !" In point of fact, we think he'd have slept in his car with his child if he had no home. Just say'in

Art is not about thinking something up. It is the opposite - getting something down.

Treating perfectionism is difficult in part because perfectionists tend to take even the process of overcoming perfectionism extremely seriously, criticizing themselves for perceived mistakes in the therapeutic process and judging themselves harshly if they feel their progress has been too slow. Because mindfulness does not ask that perfectionists stop anxious thoughts and feelings, only that they recognize them for what they are, mindfulness-based therapies are ideal for treating perfectionism and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
